The “treasure” skirt The cultivation of flax and linen weaving of Hmong people has longstanding history. In Hmong villages, almost every family has its own weaving loom and supplies. Hmong women are always able to get their weaving done with beautiful products no matter where they ate, at front doors, part house, next to the windows or on the side of roads or right at the market … As having leisure after harvest time, they enlist in tearing linen fibers into thin strips, decorating them with patterns then sewing shirts or skirts for their children to wear in the first day of school or for the upcoming markets. For those who ever visited Hmong house, besides cooking fires glowing with red coals and big bags of corn – the only home-store food, they would see colored skirts hanging in bunches in the corner of the house.
