Hanoi Spring Fair 2014 to open
![]() The traditional muscial performance opens the Hanoi Spring Fair 2014 Locals and tourists traveling to Hanoi when Tet nears will have chance to see rare animals and items which are traditionally offered to Kings in feudal times during the Spring Fair in Hanoi until 28th January. On the area of more than 20,000m2, the spring fair is a shopper’s paradise with 800 stalls from 500 businesses nationwide and has showcased a wide variety of high-quality local goods. |
Held at Giang Vo Exhibition Center, the Spring Fair has displayed rare animals, food specialties and handcrafted items for sale, including “ga chin cua” (nine-spurred rooster), “chim sam cam” (a rare kind of waterfowl), “ca anh vu” (a rare kind of carp), Tu Le glutinous rice, Nang Xuan rice, Van Phuc silk, Bat Trang pottery, and Nga Son sedge mats. Coming to the fair, visitors can also watch some traditional musical performances of the UNESCO-recognized “Nha Nhac Hue” (Hue’s court music) or other traditional folk music as well as partaking in numerous folk games. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to establish the Spring Fair in order to boost the purchase of local goods along with promoting and preserving traditional cultural activities for Vietnamese Tet holiday.
