Mekong region listed among 50 best places for 2015 travel

Tourists to Vietnam and Cambodia are advised to travel by river and spend there at least 15 days for going on riverboat tours in Mekong River region, which has been regarded as one of the best places for tourism in 2015, said the U.S. travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

The Mekong River is the world's 12th-longest river and the 7th-longest in Asia. It runs from the Tibetan Plateau through Yunnan Province (China), Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The extreme seasonal variations in flow and the presence of rapids and waterfalls in the Mekong River have made navigation difficult. Everyone has to admit that the Mekong River is not only one of the richest areas of biodiversity throughout the world but also home to many species of very large fish.

According to the Travel + Leisure, the Mekong River region ranked eleventh out of the 50 best places to travel in 2015, for real experience on new life thanks to a slew of riverboat launches. Many river tours in Mekong delta region are launched in order to offer every tourist chance to explore the natural wild, to contemplate the peaceful landscape of the Mekong River as well as to learn about the residents’ living style by cruising on boat and visiting the floating markets in Vietnam and Cambodia.

The list of Travel + Leisure for best travel 2015 also includes Bali Island and Jakarta (Indonesia), Hokkaido Prefecture (Japan), Chengdu City (China), and Singapore.
